Statement earrings are a fantastic way to add a little extra to your outfit and can give something basic that extra "oomph". Bonus points if it matches your highlighter!
Unfortunately, earrings are always hit or miss with me because of my past earlobe choices. Sounds strange right? Let me explain...when I was 19 I decided to stretch (or gauge) my three lower piercings to size 2. You can see my second hole is still gauged. And before you ask, yes I only have one earring. When I was 12 my mom didn't want me to get another piercing, but my genius little self was able to convince her into letting me and my sister "split the piercing", you know "because of all the lost earrings I can wear". Although I love statement earrings and how cute they can be! Even now at 27, I'm still debating whether or not I want to go back to gauges all the time. The reason that I took them out was because I had just gotten engaged and I decided that I wanted to wear my grandmothers jewelry. I didn't wear earrings or anything for about a year just so I could wear her opals that she passed down to me.
I've never been good at changing my jewelry and adding all those statement pieces, especially because weight is always an issue. These adorable (and cheap) chunky earrings I wore today would probably be totally fine for normal earlobes, and I did okay, but I only lasted for about 4 hours before I took them out! For all you earring lovers (and wearers) out there, I linked some adorable statement pieces below so I can vicariously live through you!

Time pieces are my favorite accessory because they are the most functional and necessary in my life. As a teacher with a flexible schedule (I'll save that for another post) time is always important. Click that "read more" tab to see how I styled my piece and don't forget to enter to win a $100 gift code to JORD! Contest ends Sept. 3! Its the age old question... Which do you prefer? Silver? or Gold? Who says you have to choose? I personally don't think we live in a day and age where we must select one or the other. But lets be real, my wedding ring is definitely silver. So, I guess I did choose a little. Ha! My gold flats are perfect for when I'm feeling a little edgy. I'll be very honest, those spikes are pretty sharp. Don't mess with me when I'm wearing those bad boys! My silver Tom's on the other hand make me feel like Cinderella just enjoying a casual day. Tom's have always been a favorite of mine. Jewelry is always a hit or miss for me, I I have so many pieces that I never wear. I'm slowly getting rid of what I don't wear and making sure I only purchase pieces I know I will wear.
One thing I have moved towards are bangles, and Alex and Ani are definitely my favorite by far! But I have to tell you about my newest addition: the hair tie cuff, genius invention btw. If you're looking for higher quality here is the "original". I actually scored this bad boy on Amazon for only $16! I have child-sized wrists, so It is a little loose on. If you have normal sized wrists I'm sure you will be fine, but if they are smaller just be aware the cuff won't stay on without a hair tie! P.s. My shoes are still available at Target, I've been slowly stocking up on Mossimo before they are gone, and they are on sale in store for $17. Shop the look below! Ohhhh. My. Gawwwwd. (Janice from Friends anyone?) Can you believe its already August? This year is flying by. Lex is back to school next week...but didn't summer break just start?! Summer vacation seems shorter every year, guess that's that whole "adulting" thing right? But, we cherish vacation time and decided to end our summer with a bang! To kick off August, we have decided to surprise you all with our first month-long style challenge.
There is even a fun giveaway in it for you! I never thought I would fall into the Pom trend, but let's be real, who am I kidding? Lately I've been obsessing over everyone's sandals and heels with the Pom accents, probably to avoid all the adorable straw clutches I've seen....but really they're just so summery I couldn't deny them. I found these Big Buddha sandals on sale for $3 at Walmart! I was perusing through the shoe section to realize, hello, Walmart actually had some cute summer sandals, and most were on sale! I linked this exact pair and a few others (and more expensive) below! Big Buddha | Pom Lace Ups | I found mine in store for $3!
Big Buddha | Pom Slides | less than $16 Qupid | Pom Lace Ups | on sale for $30 BP | Lace Up Pom | $50 Chinese Laundry | Embellished Lace Up | $60 Kate Spade | T-strap Jelly | $70 (25% off!) Over time we have collected these adorable fruit themed purses that are just too cute! They may be small but they're the perfect accessory for any outfit. Plus of course I added the daisy, it just screams summer to me as well!
As you have probably figured out by now, I love the 90's, lol! I'm seriously obsessed with these heart sunnies I scored a year ago so I decided to share my love of this with you all. I've been hunting around and can't find this same pair, but decided to share a few others with you!
