3:34am. We meet again. Its just another night in the McNaught house. I've been awake since about 1am and I just moved to the couch as to not disturb hubby. After a rather overwhelming 100% response to my insta-story poll asking if y'all wanted to know more about my shoulder injury, I figured what better time than the present. So here I am, cup of tea in hand and The Office on in the background, buckle up buttercup, this is quite complex.

I don’t know about you, but looking back at old pictures my style of makeup has changed like crazy. I feel like every woman goes through this and thinks “what was I thinking?” because let’s be real, we made some interesting choices. I feel like makeup is a big part of my lifestyle because it’s something that can change daily to fit my mood or style! It also can be a security blanket which I think can be so important for self esteem. In my early adulthood (around 20) I randomly experienced what acne was like, it was a horrible experience caused by hormonal changes that left me feeling insecure, and scarred. But since then I’ve moved on, and started feeling more confident in my own skin.
I don’t know about you but for years I’ve struggled to find the perfect foundation that doesn’t end up looking orange 30 minutes after applied....I’ve moved away from foundation in general and have only been using setting powder or small amounts of concealer, I tend to let my freckles show through because why not, they’re part of me too right! . Bronzer, brows, and highlighter are my best friends and adding a pop of color to my lips is always fun especially for fall.
Shop my makeup here and let me know your favorite product or tip! Looking forward to trying that new Fenty foundation when I get color matched, if you’ve tried it let me know what you think!
So you're probably thinking "closet choices, why are you writing this in lifestyle?" Here's the deal, I love clothes, my style choices reflect my personality and I love that I can express myself through what I wear. Now, I know I really haven't told y'all much about myself so I think it's time to change that! I find myself realizing my work and lifestyle mix together so much that it's too hard to just not write little blurbs about my day sometimes. So this was my outfit today. White jeans, geometric blouse, $3 heels, and <10 min curls. Today I got a lot of "your hair looks nice, going somewhere after school?" "Miss why you all dressed up today?" and "you look nice today Miss". I know we have casual jean days to wear college shirts and school spirit, but honestly, sometimes I just really like dressing up!
It's happened every year, generally towards the end, when my students realize I don't wear the same outfit in a school year. Now I know I have a lot of clothes, but let's be real, I repeat items, but mix it up. For example I'll wear a blouse with a skirt, and then wear that same top with jeans, shirts, etc. I rotate through my closet trying to mix and match something new, then at the end of summer I donate or trade the clothes I didn't wear. Welcome to my life of weird habits! Also, my hangers are all backwards, which I know some Type A's struggle with, but it's so when I wear an item I hang it back "normal" so I know what I've worn. Do any of y'all have something quirky like this too? Share in the comments, I'd love to hear from you! Summer footwear is coming to an end and we are so excited to bust out the booties! Check out our post here for more on that.
But, with the world of closed toe shoes coming that means we are enjoying the warm weather shoes a bit longer. It's always pretty cool when we unintentionally have similar styles, and now we can share a bit about our bff tattoos, both of our first ones! For the story read more below! If you read the title and instantly thought of The Office, I would like to say well done, and we should probably be bffs. But on a more serious note planning events is tons of fun, and tons of work! Our church was hosting a missions dinner and the "young adults" planning it (a.k.a. us) goal was: the most fun missions dinner you've been to. Some background knowledge for you:
Our church has been rebuilding these past couple years and it's amazing. The growth and changes are continually showing themselves throughout the ministries. Our pastor knows how important youth are, but also the impact that young adults can have on the church. We were asked (along with others who we unable to attend) to create the most fun mission dinner we could.! We had our set budget and we went with it! As you can see we have a unique backdrop behind our stage so we went with summer theme to match. Here in Arizona, we take sun protection pretty seriously. But just because you may not be in the desert, doesn't mean you shouldn't too! UV rays are strong and dangerous. It's the quiet danger we often overlook.
Staying protected from the sun is beyond important. Take the proper precautions! Your skin deserves it. |
