If you read the title and instantly thought of The Office, I would like to say well done, and we should probably be bffs. But on a more serious note planning events is tons of fun, and tons of work! Our church was hosting a missions dinner and the "young adults" planning it (a.k.a. us) goal was: the most fun missions dinner you've been to. Some background knowledge for you: Our church has been rebuilding these past couple years and it's amazing. The growth and changes are continually showing themselves throughout the ministries. Our pastor knows how important youth are, but also the impact that young adults can have on the church. We were asked (along with others who we unable to attend) to create the most fun mission dinner we could.! We had our set budget and we went with it! As you can see we have a unique backdrop behind our stage so we went with summer theme to match. We were surprised how engaged everyone was during the games. Lets be real, all we did was modify some bridal and baby shower games. We had a blast and were able to give away small raffle prizes between games. Attendees were happily surprised that we had a couple of door prizes hidden up our sleeve. We actually scored all our decorations from the .99 cent store! We got the table clothes, place mats, flowers and pieced them together to create our centerpieces. You should have seen us in the dollar store trying to make mock ups!
It was an amazing opportunity for us to be involved in such a ministry driven experience. Our church focuses on being multi-generational. This was one of the first steps to give the younger generation leadership. We were able to send off Hannah with an amazing benevolence gift as she embarks on her calling to bring others to Christ in Slovenia. Although exhausting, we absolutely enjoyed this experience. Getting to team up with not only one another but also our ministry staff, we were able to combine old and new ideas to create a new standard for our multi-generational expectations. Local? Come join us on Sunday's at 10am, we would love to see you!
