Transitioning from season to season isn't always easy. Especially when the temps outside do nothing to encourage anything but summer-wear. This AZ heat is constantly trying to remind us its not quite fall. But, there are a few little touches to your style that can add to at least make it feel a bit more so. Here is just a quick look at how I like to style my long cardigan as we transition our style with the seasons.
Let me start by saying I'm a firm believer in white after Labor day. I'm just never quite ready to put away my 'summer whites'. But here we are. Its almost September and the seasons are changing. By adding a long (mid-thigh to mid-calf) cardigan, it creates a more comfortable and laid back look that doesn't just say sandcastles and sunshine. Truly an effortless look.
I chose to keep it simple, with minimal accessories and booties. But you could dress this up or down. It essentially just a combination of basics if you break it down. All year-round staples in my wardrobe:
The styling choices are entirely in your hands. By pairing with booties, I have a look that holds onto summer for a bit longer, while slowly getting myself into that fall state of mind.

Patterns and prints are some of my favorite go-tos and with fall coming quickly (well not so much in Arizona...) I cannot wait to bust out the thigh high boots, vests, and fur. Be prepared, fall is my favorite....and Halloween as well so vampy, goth, and witch-esque styles will be coming to you soon!
Starting off my transition with Ashley's floppy hat, because you know, we raid each others closets constantly, and one of my favorite Forever 21 printed dresses. I love bird/animal prints and there are so many meanings for sparrows, but if you would like to know the basis of my favorite tattoo (maybe one day I'll show you....) check out Matthew 10:29-31!
Cannot wait to continue breaking out my fall attire filled with boots, black lace, and bell sleeves. Fall I am so ready for you. Shop the look below and see more of my current faves!
p.s. my adorable PearlsAndRocks bracelet is on sale for $9.90 right now!
There are some companies that just have an appeal to them, something that stands out, unique, timeless. The moment I stumbled upon JORD watches, I knew I needed to have one in my life. Like they say, "moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time."
Time pieces are my favorite accessory because they are the most functional and necessary in my life. As a teacher with a flexible schedule (I'll save that for another post) time is always important. Click that "read more" tab to see how I styled my piece and don't forget to enter to win a $100 gift code to JORD! Contest ends Sept. 3!
Nothing screams confidence like a great jumpsuit. They were all the rage in the 1970's. As we have seen with fashion over the eras, everything always comes back around. Jumpsuits have been maintaining a pretty steady status over the past couple of years, and frankly, I'm all for it!
This 'Retro Rose' Jumpsuit is unique with the front abdomen cutout, faux button up top, and wide leg. It also features a ruched back with a long zipper down the spine. It ensures the most fabulous fit. Seriously, nobody wants to ever feel like they can't breathe! None of that here wit this floral number.
Sometimes you just find a dress that makes you weak in the knees because you love it so much. Appropriately named the 'Free Fallin' dress', you'll find it ideal for dressing up or down with extreme ease! Oh and trust me, it's even lovelier in person. As you look closer, you'll see the subtle detailing, all perfectly placed. Little additions like the neon patterned neckline and subtle criss cross straps make it so much more than just another white dress.
Trust me, you don't want to miss this one!
I don't know about you, but I love me some fun pants! I have a small collection of some of the most fun patterned pants that I like to mix into my style. I scored this pair at Forever 21 and it's like harem meets trousers. I love that more stores are carrying palazzo, culottes, and fluid style bottoms. I guess I have to start bringing mine out of the back of my closet! I linked a similar pair below and some cute new styles, ya know, just in case ;)
p.s. at it again scoring those $3 shoes from Walmart!
Ohhhh. My. Gawwwwd. (Janice from Friends anyone?)
Can you believe its already August? This year is flying by. Lex is back to school next week...but didn't summer break just start?!
Summer vacation seems shorter every year, guess that's that whole "adulting" thing right? But, we cherish vacation time and decided to end our summer with a bang!
To kick off August, we have decided to surprise you all with our first month-long style challenge.
There is even a fun giveaway in it for you!
I'm pretty sure trading clothes is one of my favorite pastimes with Ashley, lol! But seriously, it's so fun because we are able to trade items we realized we never wear, maybe think the color will look better on each other, or realize it wasn't the perfect fit after all. It's so fun, especially since I have no luck selling clothes online or to "buy back stores" (if you have advice please leave a comment!!) , so since I can't sell them I might as well just trade right? Click that read more button and check out this gorgeous top!
I never thought I would fall into the Pom trend, but let's be real, who am I kidding? Lately I've been obsessing over everyone's sandals and heels with the Pom accents, probably to avoid all the adorable straw clutches I've seen....but really they're just so summery I couldn't deny them.
I found these Big Buddha sandals on sale for $3 at Walmart! I was perusing through the shoe section to realize, hello, Walmart actually had some cute summer sandals, and most were on sale! I linked this exact pair and a few others (and more expensive) below!
I don't know about you, but when I think of summer, I think of fruit! It's that time of year where you just want something cool and refreshing. Especially here in the desert! Over time we have collected these adorable fruit themed purses that are just too cute! They may be small but they're the perfect accessory for any outfit. Plus of course I added the daisy, it just screams summer to me as well!
