I don't know about you but I'm seriously in love with mules. I have been on the hunt for the perfect pair for a while now. I still have quite a few on my radar, but for now I settled for the Steve Madden look-alikes I scored at Walmart for $16!
These Mossimo jeans were clearances to $8 and have the most adorable slit that is perfect with the crop. My front knotted tee is from Junky Trunk and is so comfy! Unfortunately it's not listed online anymore but they are adding so many new fall items I can't wear to share my most recent scores!
When you live in the desert the idea of fall is just too good. The second the temperature drops we like to pretend like it's totally fine to wear flannel, boots, and dusters because lets be real, we are just dying for a change. Summer in Arizona can last anywhere from April to October, so when the temperature dips, we're ready!
When the high today was 101 degrees...and it's already below 90 before 9 p.m. I've officially declared it's okay to dress for fall. Today I celebrated by rocking my fave hand-me-down flannel dress. I love t-shirt dresses and the menswear style. It's so comfy, yet you can still dress it up with accessories and shoes. Shop similar looks below!
Transitioning from season to season isn't always easy. Especially when the temps outside do nothing to encourage anything but summer-wear. This AZ heat is constantly trying to remind us its not quite fall. But, there are a few little touches to your style that can add to at least make it feel a bit more so. Here is just a quick look at how I like to style my long cardigan as we transition our style with the seasons.
Let me start by saying I'm a firm believer in white after Labor day. I'm just never quite ready to put away my 'summer whites'. But here we are. Its almost September and the seasons are changing. By adding a long (mid-thigh to mid-calf) cardigan, it creates a more comfortable and laid back look that doesn't just say sandcastles and sunshine. Truly an effortless look.
I chose to keep it simple, with minimal accessories and booties. But you could dress this up or down. It essentially just a combination of basics if you break it down. All year-round staples in my wardrobe:
The styling choices are entirely in your hands. By pairing with booties, I have a look that holds onto summer for a bit longer, while slowly getting myself into that fall state of mind.

Statement earrings are a fantastic way to add a little extra to your outfit and can give something basic that extra "oomph". Bonus points if it matches your highlighter!
Unfortunately, earrings are always hit or miss with me because of my past earlobe choices. Sounds strange right? Let me explain...when I was 19 I decided to stretch (or gauge) my three lower piercings to size 2. You can see my second hole is still gauged. And before you ask, yes I only have one earring. When I was 12 my mom didn't want me to get another piercing, but my genius little self was able to convince her into letting me and my sister "split the piercing", you know "because of all the lost earrings I can wear". Although I love statement earrings and how cute they can be! Even now at 27, I'm still debating whether or not I want to go back to gauges all the time. The reason that I took them out was because I had just gotten engaged and I decided that I wanted to wear my grandmothers jewelry. I didn't wear earrings or anything for about a year just so I could wear her opals that she passed down to me.
I've never been good at changing my jewelry and adding all those statement pieces, especially because weight is always an issue. These adorable (and cheap) chunky earrings I wore today would probably be totally fine for normal earlobes, and I did okay, but I only lasted for about 4 hours before I took them out! For all you earring lovers (and wearers) out there, I linked some adorable statement pieces below so I can vicariously live through you!
Patterns and prints are some of my favorite go-tos and with fall coming quickly (well not so much in Arizona...) I cannot wait to bust out the thigh high boots, vests, and fur. Be prepared, fall is my favorite....and Halloween as well so vampy, goth, and witch-esque styles will be coming to you soon!
Starting off my transition with Ashley's floppy hat, because you know, we raid each others closets constantly, and one of my favorite Forever 21 printed dresses. I love bird/animal prints and there are so many meanings for sparrows, but if you would like to know the basis of my favorite tattoo (maybe one day I'll show you....) check out Matthew 10:29-31!
Cannot wait to continue breaking out my fall attire filled with boots, black lace, and bell sleeves. Fall I am so ready for you. Shop the look below and see more of my current faves!
p.s. my adorable PearlsAndRocks bracelet is on sale for $9.90 right now!
Time is just one of those things, sometimes it just seems like there isn't enough of it. Other times, you it wish time would simply hurry the eff up. Occasionally we need a reminder that we cannot control time. However, we can control our mindsets regarding time. Take a deep breath, and if you have to check your watch every 5 mins (like me), make sure you're wearing a watch that you actually enjoy looking at.

There are some companies that just have an appeal to them, something that stands out, unique, timeless. The moment I stumbled upon JORD watches, I knew I needed to have one in my life. Like they say, "moments are bigger than minutes and your watch should tell more than time."
Time pieces are my favorite accessory because they are the most functional and necessary in my life. As a teacher with a flexible schedule (I'll save that for another post) time is always important. Click that "read more" tab to see how I styled my piece and don't forget to enter to win a $100 gift code to JORD! Contest ends Sept. 3!

Bootie season is almoooost upon us. Maybe its made it to your location already, we are still just left dreaming of it here in the Arizona desert. Nonetheless, I grew up in Washington State and I am addicted to booties. The first step is admitting it right? Well, I did just that. After makinig the realization, I did the dreaded task... I purged my booties. WHAT? How could I do such a thing you ask? Well, it helps that I had so many cute pairs. Don't worry, I still have plenty to choose from. In today's post, you'll find a handful of the ones who made the cut.
